Mission Adventures has officially kicked off on June 6 and has been in full swing since. We've had 3 teams join us so far. They have helped us run Vacation Bible School (VBS) programs, impacted peoples lives through street evangelism and mercy projects throughout all parts of the city.
Our staff come up with curriculum topics, skits, lesson plans, games and activities for many communities like the inner city and refugee people groups. While taking the time to influence the children in these areas, many parents also join and are impacted as well.
I've really enjoyed using the platform of cosmetology to share and listen to girls and mothers of the children. While we do their hair, nails and even henna designs; we are able to get the women to talk a bit about themselves. It has been a great way to plant seeds of Jesus' love into predominantly Muslim and Hindu cultures.
Next Week...
Next Tuesday, our entire base will be packing up and heading back to Philadelphia for Joshua Generation!
We will be in Philadelphia for 3 weeks. Youth groups affiliated with YWAM Pittsburgh, Boston & Philadelphia will come together and learn choreographed hip hop dances, a gospel presentation in drama form and evangelism training. Then, WE HIT THE STREETS! Our teams will go off into surrounding areas of Philadelphia, Baltimore and New York to perform our dances, dramas and share the true story of Jesus to the world.
Whatever it takes.
That's the theme this year. Whatever it takes to get the gospel to all the world. We will do it. Give it our all, endure and persevere. Just like Jesus did for us. We are so looking forward to see how God stretches each of us, and how He impacts many people as before during this outreach.
Ways you can be praying for us...
Momentum: These next few weeks will be a lot of mental, emotional and physical exhaustion for both staff and students. Long days, late nights and early mornings are to come. In the end, it's always worth it.
Safety: Protection for safe travels, there and back. As well as all the areas we are to travel to and set up for outreaches.
Interaction with those we come in contact with: Please be praying in advance for the people we will be speaking with on the streets. That their hearts would be softened to receive the truth and hearts would be healed. Lives would be truly changed.
Boldness: Evangelizing is intimidating! Pray that the students would gain a boldness and courage beyond themselves; and walk in obedience to the leadings of the Holy Spirit. To unashamedly speak out the truth of Jesus.
Wisdom: Please be praying for wisdom for us leaders. Juggling the responsibilities of protecting and overseeing 80+ teens. While trying to also challenge them to step out of their comfort zones can be difficult.
God's hand in our midst: Above all else, we need Jesus. We need Him in it, because without Him, what are we even doing? We need His presence in our midst, His wisdom and guidance. We want to be obedient to God's direction and how we as His hands and feet are to move.
Thank you so much for checking out this update! Stay tuned for more soon...
